Completed as part of studies for the MSc in Design for Interaction at TU Delft, this team project focused on the redesign of physical and digital interfaces for a wheelchair control module for Sunrise Medical. The redesign was made specifically for elderly users with limited dexterity and technical literacy, whose needs are complex - a compelling design challenge.

Extensive user research was conducted with elderly wheelchair users and prospective future wheelchair users to ascertain key elements of the existing module to improve. Following this, physical and digital prototypes were developed and tested, including an interactive prototype of the new digital interface, complete with joystick control. I was responsible for this digital prototype, and produced it using p5.js (a web-based JavaScript environment) plus serial communication with an Arduino via Processing.
1 - Final physical prototype of the control module.
2
- User test setup for physical and digital prototypes.
3 - Example interaction with digital prototype via physical joystick.
